Verse 1: Be careful not to do acts just so people can see you doing them, for there will be no reward in Heaven for you.
Verses 2-4: When you give to the needy, don't do it just for show. Do it in secret, doing it because you want to, and the Lord will reward you.
Verses 5-7: When you pray, don't pray like a babbling pagan (which means someone who doesn't know what he's doing). Don't pray on street corners, just so people can see you. It's okay to set an example, but don't pray just so people can see you.
Bottom line: Don't do things just for attention, do them because you want to and you will be rewarded in Heaven
