A Song of Ascents. Of David. Lord, my heart is not haughty, Nor my eyes lofty. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, Nor with things too profound for me.
Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul,
Like a weaned child with his mother;
Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, hope in the Lord
From this time forth and forever.
-Psalm 131
I think too often we concern ourselves with "What will Heaven look like? Will it be on earth, or in the sky? Will he be there? Surely SHE won't be there...right?"
David is saying here, that He HAS stopped concerning himself with great matters and things too profound for him. We need to learn from him.We needn't concern ourselves with thngs too lofty and profound. God didn't tell us in His Word exactly where Heaven would be, or what exactly it would look like (He has given us broad descriptions, but sometimes we want more...Like 'How many houses to a street..' or 'Will there even be streets?'. He also said that only HE knows who will be in Heaven. The people we are just SURE will be in Heaven, may not be there at all!
The only thing we can do is hope in the Lord and not worry about anything too lofty for our own good.
