The context of this first chapter of the Word we have been
given to live by is <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">ex nihilo</i>, (Latin),
which means: out of nothing. Nothing preceded this passage of Scripture in
history, and God created everything (John 1:3). He knew that there would be sin
in the world, He even created Satan so we would have a choice between Heaven
and hell; He knows all things. There is NOTHING hidden from Him because He has
created everything; nothing surprises Him.</div>

In the beginning of the world, only God was present, and that
would have been enough for Him to be sustained forever. God did not need us, because
He is God and wants for nothing, but, out of His goodness, He created the Heavens
and the earth. A place for us to start, and a place for us to reside after
death.</div>

What has always been crazy to me, is that God knew the

My favorite part of studying Genesis is understanding that
this is just the beginning! Our story of redemption is shown over and over throughout
the different stories of the Bible, yet this shows the perfection that God
created the world with and the Master of it all said that it was very good. At
this point of the Earth’s story, God loved us enough to create us and everything
we would need to be sustained while on this Earth. Everything that comes after
this in Scripture is confirmation of His love for us. <o:p></o:p></div>

Ultimately, the whole Bible is telling a story of love. God
created the Earth, the we are shown how humanity sins over and over again, is
redeemed, then crucifies the Savior of the world and are still welcomed to
accept a free, loving gift of salvation to live eternally. The two major
takeaways I have from this chapter are: we are perfectly created and need to
live our lives showing the grace, love and mercy we have been shown. <o:p></o:p></div>

<br />
Most people my age are getting married, having children and pursuing their masters and doctorate degrees. I graduated college, then moved back home to save money while I applied for jobs.<br />
<br />
I accepted a job two months after graduation, but it turned out to be quite a different opportunity than I expected. Adding to this frustration is over an hour commute each way in Austin traffic every day.<br />
<br />
I have struggled with several things the devil has told me during this season of my life:<br />
<ul>
<li><u style="font-weight: bold;">Why do you need a job? You don't have anything to save for anyways. </u></li>
<li><u style="font-weight: bold;">Why are you trying so hard to be successful? You won't amount to anything anyways.</u></li>
<li><b><u>Why are you dreaming about having a relationship some day? It will never happen. You're going to be single forever.</u></b></li>
</ul>
<div>
Then as I was studying in preparation to lead my small group, God revealed to me the chains of faithlessness and lack of joy that had me bound. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You see, Matthew 14:22-33 talks about Peter's faith:</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>He saw the Lord walking on water, and naturally thought something like that could never be possible and believed it was a ghost.</li>
<li>Once Jesus identified Himself, Peter still didn't believe and demanded Jesus allow him to walk on the water with Him. </li>
<li>Jesus allowed Peter to walk alongside Him on the water.</li>
<li>Peter became fearful when the wind and waves started again and began to doubt God's sovereignty. </li>
<li>Jesus asked why he doubted, but didn't punish Peter.; instead, He got into Peter's boat with him and the storm stopped. </li>
<li>Then all of those in the boat believed that He was the Son of God after the storm stopped when Jesus got into the boat. </li>
</ul>
<div>
If I really believe that God reigns over everything and everyone, why do I act like Peter?</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Why do I believe the devil's lies that I am in a rotten place in my life and should have a bad attitude about it? </li>
</ul>
Here are a few ways that God has shown me to strengthen my faith and help my unbelief.</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>God's ways are perfect (Psalm 18:30, 2 Samuel 22:31) and He had great plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11). </li>
</ul>
<ul><ul>
<li>Those plans <i style="font-weight: bold;">cannot </i>be fully understood in your life unless a) you trust in Him with ALL your heart <b>and </b>b) in all your ways acknowledge that Him and His place in your life (Proverbs 3:5-6). <b> </b></li>
</ul>
</ul>
<ul><ul>
<li>You see, God can be establishing your path for you, but you will never understand how He is using you until you fully relinquish your life and trust to Him. You will see stages in your life as a burden if you don't view them as the Lord shaping you and using you where you are.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
<ul><ul>
<li>We are all clay, being molded to Jesus' image (Jeremiah 18). Once we are molded, we must be refined by the fire that is God Almighty (1 Peter 1:7). This molding and refining cannot happen unless we are in His presence. </li>
</ul>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>When we look at the Bible, we do not see God taking people out of their struggles, we see Him helping them through it; <i>we often forget this part of the stories.</i></li>
</ul>
<ul><ul>
<li>He took the Israelites out of bondage, but didn't drop them into the Promised Land. They had to wander through the wilderness for forty years, but <i>He provided for their every need: food, shelter, water, leadership and protection from the enemies. </i></li>
</ul>
</ul>
<ul><ul>
<li>He allowed the devil to tempt Job by taking away <b>all of his worldly possessions </b><i>(can you even imagine that? Your wealth, family, and your job/animals)</i>. While Job mourned these losses and was not able to understand, he never wavered in his faithfulness to God. Through this book, we find out who God is- He is Godself and understands things we are never to understand. <b><i>Suffering does not happen because of a sinful act, but rather because of God's good and perfect master plan.</i></b></li>
</ul>
</ul>
<div>
<div>
Ultimately, if our joy comes from our circumstances, we will always be let down. </div>
</div>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>I personally found that my joy came from being successful in college, having great friends and free time. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Once I graduated and no longer had the security of knowing I could do well in classes, friends living in the same room as me and basically no free time, I became bitter.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>God has begun to show me that my joy did not come from Him, but rather from the things around me. <i>Think about this thought from Halim Suh at the Austin Stone: </i></li>
<ul>
<li>What you worship is the object of all your hopes and dreams.</li>
<ul>
<li>He brought up a great point: If your family was suddenly taken from you, would you have joy? If you lost your job, would you still find joy? </li>
</ul>
</ul>
</ul>
<div>
In conclusion, I am slowly realizing what I am worshipping alongside God. <b>Spoiler: </b>it is definitely security, success, and time to relax.</div>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Worshipping God doesn't work that way. God demands your entire trust and hope to be in Him. That is ultimately what the first of the Ten Commandments says. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>With this realization, I am choosing to place my worship and trust in Him, rather than in earthly possessions that will fade. </li>
</ul>
I am choosing joy in this season of my life rather than bitterness, because life is short and I will constantly be striving for things I can never achieve.</div>

<a href="http://static1.squarespace.com/static/54526305e4b04057136c397a/t/54f87f76e4b0d917cd80e750/1425571704917/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://static1.squarespace.com/static/54526305e4b04057136c397a/t/54f87f76e4b0d917cd80e750/1425571704917/" height="283" width="320" /></a></div>
Something I have been struggling with recently is finding peace.<br />
<br />
You see, when college students "rest", it is to watch a movie or scroll through Facebook for 10 minutes.<br />
<br />
Projects, quizzes, homework, and tests all pile up causing constant anxiety and stimulation-and the thought of peace and rest is the furthest thing from my mind.<br />
<br />
Especially reading my Bible or taking a break to just sit in God's presence and listen?<br />
<br />
<b>That's unheard of...I don't have time. </b><i>Really? God had time to rest when creating the world. I can't find 5 minutes to sit in His presence?</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. -Colossians 3:15 (NASB)<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but those who plan peace have joy. -Proverbs 12:20 (ESV).<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, when you take a minute and let Christ rule your heart, you become:</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Part of His body (which he commands)</li>
<li>Thankful for Him</li>
<li>Joyful. <i>Seriously, when does a break and sleep not rejuvenate you?</i></li>
</ul>
<div>
I challenge you, take a break from all of the stuff surrounding you, focus on God and give up your worries. He's got this.<br />
<br />

These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might, which He brought about in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at the right hand in the heavenly places.<br />
<br />
While this was originally Paul's prayer to the Church at Ephesus (Ephesians 1:18-20), it is my prayer for myself and for anyone reading this. This passage is just one example of many in the New Testament that describe how we can pray for one another.<br />
<br />
This morning, I was reminded of just how short life is when a young woman who started college with me finished her battle with Leukemia. So, through the hurt we face in this world, I urge you to allow God to open the eyes of your heart so that you can see Him. Life is too short to live in the now; we must focus on forever with Him. Forever starts when you accept Christ- allow your heart to be open to see the hope that God's calling provides. Once we see this hope, we are able to see the riches His love provides and His amazing power.<br />
<br />
Let His love mold and shape you so that you are truly His handiwork and used for His glory. Life is too short to live otherwise.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6281044164654812615.post-61813707745329104602014-03-09T15:23:00.000-05:002014-03-09T15:23:08.482-05:00How To Treat OthersOur world today seems to teach us that if we are Christians, we must hate everyone who does not do as the Bible instructs.<br />
<br />
This view is ironic, because Christians are to <i>love their enemies </i>(Matthew 5:44); our enemies would be anyone who we hate, right?<br />
<br />
<i>2 Thessalonians 3:14,15 (NASB): "If anyone does not obey our instruction in their letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him....Yet, do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother."</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
According to this passage, Christians are to not be best friends with those who are not Christ followers, but we are not to treat them as our enemies. That, I believe, is where the Christians are getting a negative reputation. We have accepted the world's view that if we do not agree with someone's choices, we must speak out negatively against them and then not associate with them at all.<br />
<br />
We are to love everyone, especially our enemies and even more so those we do not agree with.<br />

If you are not familiar with these passages, I will highlight them below.<br />
<br />
<i>Mark 8:22-26 -Jesus healing a blind man at Bethsaida.</i><br />
<br />
Jesus found a blind man, spit on his eyes and asked "Do you see anything?"The man saw what he described as trees walking around, because he could not see clearly. Jesus then laid His hands on the man's eyes again and he began to see everything clearly.<br />
<br />
<i>Mark 8:27-31- Peter confesses Jesus as Christ.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>Jesus and the disciples were on the way to Caesarea Phillippi (pictured below). On the way, He asked them who people say that He is. The disciples answered "John the Baptist; and others say Elijah, but others one of the prophets." Then Jesus asked, "But who do you say that I am". Peter then answered "You are the Christ".<br />

<i>Mark 8:31-33: First Passion Prediction.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Directly after this, Jesus began teaching about how he must suffer and die, then be raised after three days. Peter then began to rebuke Him for saying this (remember just a few short verses ago, he had proclaimed that Jesus was Christ, and thus knew what He was doing). Jesus responded to Peter saying, "Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind of God's interests, but man's."</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Mark 9:30-32- Second Passion Prediction.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Jesus again began teaching his disciples that once again he would be killed and raised after three days; yet the disciples, of all people, still did not understand. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Mark 10:32-45 Third Passion Prediction.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Jesus began to tell the disciples that they were going to Jerusalem so that Jesus could be condemned and handed over to the Gentiles to be killed and He would rise in three days. James and John responded to this by asking if they could be at Jesus' right and left hand in Heaven; Jesus answered by telling them first that they do not know that they are asking, then telling them that they must come as servants if they want to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Mark 10:46-52: Bartimaeus Receives His Sight</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Jesus and His disciples were leaving Jericho and found a blind man named Bartimaeus sitting by the road. The first thing I noticed is that Bartimaeus called Jesus "Son of David", meaning that He recognized that Jesus was fulfilling prophecy. Secondly, even though Bartimaeus was blind, he recognized Jesus. He begged Jesus to have mercy on Him, so the disciples called him to Jesus and Bartimaeus asked Jesus to grant him his sight. Jesus responded, "Your faith has made you well." Then, he immediately regained his sight and began following Jesus. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now that we have read the highlights of these passages, you can begin to understand how they fit together. My professor said that the blind man at Bethsaida did not see the full picture right away; in the same way, Peter confessed that Jesus was Lord, but still did not understand that Jesus was going to be crucified until after Jesus told him three times! Then, Bartimaeus represents Peter at the end of the passage, by proclaiming that he knows who Jesus is and has the faith to believe that Jesus can heal him, or raise Himself up in three days. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I completely agree with my professor's view, but I also began to think about a different interpretation while studying this passage. The blind man at the beginning of the passage did not have the faith and trust necessary to believe that Jesus could heal him at first, and therefore he did not get to see the whole picture, or understand the truth of the Bible. Then, when Jesus begins to reveal Himself, if you have faith that Jesus is who He says He is, your faith will open your eyes to great things- both in the Bible and in your every day life. </div>

In my life, I believe God placed these tragedies to remind me that I live in a sinful world and that I need to focus on Him. While I was in shock of the bombings in Boston and appalled that what seemed like an action movie was unfolding in real life, I turned to these verses. I hope you will find the encouragement I did.<br />
<br />
<br />
"I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one." -John 10:28-30 (ESV)<br />
<br />
"As He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and the end of the age?" And Jesus answered them, "See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved."<br />

I have been to the Sea of Galilee and can tell you that it does, in fact, exist.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wsTSsKXbJYU/T3Y4Ai4gncI/AAAAAAAAAOw/4N6qNDwCswc/s1600/DSCF3406.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wsTSsKXbJYU/T3Y4Ai4gncI/AAAAAAAAAOw/4N6qNDwCswc/s320/DSCF3406.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gLklpIFubto/T3XRABhF7dI/AAAAAAAAAOI/hhIMfXOpDm8/s1600/DSCF3382.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gLklpIFubto/T3XRABhF7dI/AAAAAAAAAOI/hhIMfXOpDm8/s320/DSCF3382.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FaJXolfBzpQ/T3Y3oaDCKHI/AAAAAAAAAOY/QXVYQ0NDGrg/s1600/DSCF3390.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FaJXolfBzpQ/T3Y3oaDCKHI/AAAAAAAAAOY/QXVYQ0NDGrg/s320/DSCF3390.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The interesting thing about the Sea of Galilee, especially in the context of this passage, is that it is more of a lake (often called the Lake of Tiberias) than a sea. So, if you think about it, it is hard to imagine a storm that made Jesus' disciples fear their lives coming across a lake. When they saw Jesus, He told them to "Take heart...Do not be afraid". Although I have no doubts that this situation actually happened, I think God is just as evident in our own situations. When I feel like I am drowning in life, He just reminds us me that He is near! Sometimes, we just need to seek God diligently enough to recognize that He really is in every situation.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This passage is just another one of God's clever ways of showing us that even in small situations that we view as the end of the world, He is always there. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really needed encouragement this week, even though it's a short week, and I found it in this passage. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope you do, too! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I guess because I've been insanely busy. </div>
<div>
I realized something as I was reading through my blog posts from the past year or so.</div>
<div>
I stress out trying to do things on my own, but God always comes though for me!</div>
<div>
I am planning to finish the degree I originally planned to (Management Information Systems) in the Winter of 2015. It's crazy how God works things out!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Someone who has really encouraged me through this school year is the Pastor of the church I attend in OKC (LifeChurch). Craig Groeschel has written tons of books and lately I have been reading Altar Ego. His books are so encouraging and inspiring. I am thankful that God placed his teaching in my life when I've needed it most. You can watch his sermons <a href="http://www.lifechurch.tv/watch">here</a>.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also have been extremely encouraged by Colton Dixon's music.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Many are the plans in the mind of a man, </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b> -Prov. 19:21</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am currently watching a memorial for my cousin. Today marks 1 year after he suddenly passed away. He was an amazing man of God and was respected in his church for living as such. People of the world would have questioned why a man with a wife and two young children would be taken so soon. His family and church chose to turn to God to find the answers. Although I wasn't extrememly close to him, I miss him and I wish I would have known him better when he was on earth. The awesome part of this story is that he was going through the Bible with the elders in his church and believed that God has a plan for everyone's lives.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. -Psalm 121:2</i></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Jesus Calling devotional from that day reminded his wife that God is higher and that God knows the plans that He has for us, plans to proper us, not to harm us. Plans to give us a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). The fact that this passage was the Jesus Calling devotion for the day of his death is no coincidence. God knew that Kip's family would need this encouragement that very day.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>"Making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His purpose, which He set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in Him, things in heaven and on earth." </i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>-Ephesians 1:9-10</i></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Today, I am just reminded that no matter what our plans for our lives are, God's plan is greater and will prevail. Even though deaths don't make sense, they are part of God's plan and He showed this through Kip's death. Kip affected many people with his legacy, especially his family and elders of his church. Kip's passing encouraged so many people to turn to God and His Word to try to make sense of everything.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
Today, I am also reminded that I need to remember who I am living for. If I am living for the world and not for God, no one will remember me. From this point on, I am going to live for God and leave a legacy for Him.<br />

I started 2 college classes online the first week of July.<br />
Wouldn't you know, my babysitting schedule took off at the same time?<br />
Now, I move into college in 10 days, work over 50 hours before then, have to write a 7 page research paper and do TONS of homework....<br />
Oh yes, and actually pack to move in...that'd be a good idea.<br />
<br />
I'm pretty sure God's trying to tell me to lean on Him.....ya think?<br />

<br />
So....I started 2 summer classes this Monday.<br />
<br />
My comp class is stressing me out because I don't know how to write "like a college student".<br />
<br />
Then there's my health and wellness class. I had to do a 1.5 mile run to test my abilities.<br />
I <strike>almost died </strike> felt pretty good running in the 90 degree humidity.<br />
Then I got home and figured out what my minute per mile score meant....<br />
I got the lowest score possible....I basically failed.<br />
But, hey. I ran, didn't I?<br />
And on the plus side, out of shapeness does not count in this class!<br />
<br />
My weekend is going to be crazy babysitting, but hey. It's okay! (hey, that rhymed!)<br />
<br />
I can no longer think. After 4 cups of coffee, 3 very energetic kids and a run in this heat, I am done.<br />
<br />
I will leave you with my verse for the week:<br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Charis SIL', charis, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;">Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by </span><span style="font-size: 0.65em;"><sup class="crossreference" style="background-color: white; font-size: 0.65em; font-weight: bold; vertical-align: top;" value="(<a href="#cen-NASB-29449B" title="See cross-reference B">B</a>)"></span><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;">prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.</span></span> <br />

I was so discouraged because I like knowing what I have to do, and I really don't want to be paying for unnecessary classes.<br />
I was stressed out and looking at 2 other colleges that I might transfer to after a year to see if classes will tranfer...<br />
I felt so lost and I had no idea what I was doing...then I came across this.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JS9iGrafXbI/T5b6j-Y8UPI/AAAAAAAAAak/CZdONfE98kw/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JS9iGrafXbI/T5b6j-Y8UPI/AAAAAAAAAak/CZdONfE98kw/s1600/photo.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Be encouraged! God has it under control so <strong>don't be afraid!</strong><br />

Our last Teen CBS lesson was about not being asleep, but being alert and ready for Jesus' return.<br />
Then, at Midweek (our youth service on Wednesday nights), we've been discussing Spritual warfare and how Satan is in a constant battle with Jesus for our souls.<br />
We've been talking about how important prayer and reading Scripture is, to fend off the attacks of Satan.<br />
All Christians have to put on the armor of God and that includes starting the day asking for His help.<br />
Another thing that has accounted for the focus of Jesus' return is Easter. You see, Easter is focused on Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection; but it also gives the promise of His return.<br />
This focus on His return has made me think a lot about Heaven.<br />
We all do it, we think<br />
"Oh, yeah....Heaven is out there and if I believe in God, I will go there when I die."<br />
But, when's the last time that you really stopped to this: Heaven is not like going on vacation to somewhere you've never gone before. Heaven will be our new home. We've gotten so comfortable here on Earth that we forget that this world (and it's familiarties) will be GONE, they're temporary.<br />
We will go to Heaven, where no eye had seen, except Jesus.<br />
Even those who are dead are not in Heaven yet. The Bible says that when Jesus comes back, the dead (in Christ-Christians) will rise and see Him first. I honestly have no idea what is happening to dead Christian's souls right now, but they're not in Heaven just yet.<br />
I cannot wait to join the angels in Heaven and get away from the drama of this world, but I worry.<br />
We all worry a little about what will happen. We've all worried about death.<br />
I know my faith is in Jesus and that I'm going to Heaven, but it's just a small fear.<br />
A feat like you get when you move to a new town, you don't know what to expect.<br />
Just think for a minute.<br />
This whole life will be gone, everything that you've worked for on earth, all of your money, <strong>GONE.</strong><br />
That's a weird thought because this world is all we've ever known.<br />
But, that awesome thing is, we don't have to worry!<br />
Jesus granted salvation to those who believe in Him and we will live for eternity with Him.<br />
<strong>Eternity. </strong>That is <strong>forever.</strong><br />
<br />
Today, I am thankful for the promise of Heaven.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They always had fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The rocks out here would not have changed since Jonah was here! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Jonah left from Joppa to go to Tarshish, even though God told him to go to Nineveh.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The cedar wood for Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem would've come to this port, as well.</div>

This House of Simon the Tanner is also in Joppa. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was at Caesarea Maritima. It's primarily known for housing King Herod's Palace.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Paul was also imprisoned here for 2 years.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, whenever I read Acts, I can imagine Paul looking out over the sea writing it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This amphitheatre was HUGE.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The little arches at the top are called vomitoriums in Latin.</div>

This is when we really started touring ALL day! The first day, we leisurely went to church, then spent some time at Joppa and Caesarea Maritima and went back to the hotel. No one was really wiped out after that day, but the exhaustion was starting to set in after this day!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We stayed at the Scots Hotel in Tiberias, </div>

overlooking the Sea of Galilee.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is part of the breakfast buffet. </div>

Many countries sent their interpretation of what Mary</div>

looked like at the time of the Immaculate Conception.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was Nazareth Village!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They've set up a museum, of sorts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They've brought to life many parables and </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
have preserved parts of what</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Jesus' life would have been like.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For example, above </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
is what a carpenter's shop would have looked like.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Olive trees that they harvest every year!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A tomb, not quite what Jesus' was like, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
but this one is actually in a setting that we imagine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Even the Garden Tomb </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(where many believed that Jesus died),</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
is commercialized a bit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The surroundings here make it easier to </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
imagine what the tomb would've looked like back then.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tYGEW9y7Aq0/T3XQPU5GZgI/AAAAAAAAANI/oSZ8J_7-ia4/s1600/DSCF3300.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tYGEW9y7Aq0/T3XQPU5GZgI/AAAAAAAAANI/oSZ8J_7-ia4/s320/DSCF3300.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh, this is Amer, our tour guide for Nazareth Village</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
("My name is half of America, that's my claim to fame"),</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
but that's not the purpose of the picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He's standing in the wine press that was found here</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and is most likely the source of the parable in Matt. 21:33</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-W9hh4i18uBE/T3XQUxFfnyI/AAAAAAAAANQ/3AYLzvNyVLE/s1600/DSCF3302.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-W9hh4i18uBE/T3XQUxFfnyI/AAAAAAAAANQ/3AYLzvNyVLE/s320/DSCF3302.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was my favorite part of Nazareth Village.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It depicts the parable of the Sower! (Matthew 13)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can see some plants sprouting up </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
through cracks on the path,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and also thriving plants in the good soil. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Read the passage and you will "get" it.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ji9c4KBo3QY/T3XQaITwnmI/AAAAAAAAANY/yp_eL8xtrHk/s1600/DSCF3312.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ji9c4KBo3QY/T3XQaITwnmI/AAAAAAAAANY/yp_eL8xtrHk/s320/DSCF3312.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is an olive press!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Nazareth Village still uses this when they harvest their olives.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Usually a donkey or ox would push the press,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
but the boys had to prove they could do it ;)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AYo2TYzJGh8/T3XQfoVQIcI/AAAAAAAAANg/e_sy6C6KNMM/s1600/DSCF3339.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AYo2TYzJGh8/T3XQfoVQIcI/AAAAAAAAANg/e_sy6C6KNMM/s320/DSCF3339.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ah! This is Tel Meggido (In Hebrew, it's Har Meggido)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Translated into English- Armageddon(Revelation 16:16)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Armageddon is the final battle will take place </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(in the valley in the next picture...)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What's significant about the place in the picture above,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
is that 17 different civilizations </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
have built on top of each other here.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A "tel" is a place that had a city built, then was conquered</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and the conquerors built on top of that city.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This cycle continued at least 17 times in this place!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CbDFTxS-T-c/T3XQsEa1kiI/AAAAAAAAANw/prjRgOIVxKQ/s1600/DSCF3341.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CbDFTxS-T-c/T3XQsEa1kiI/AAAAAAAAANw/prjRgOIVxKQ/s320/DSCF3341.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I kept thinking "It looks so peaceful now!)</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iaY-eON6QAk/T3XQmcak-cI/AAAAAAAAANo/CjbharfFRVs/s1600/DSCF3363.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iaY-eON6QAk/T3XQmcak-cI/AAAAAAAAANo/CjbharfFRVs/s320/DSCF3363.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is looking out from Mt Carmel.(1 Kings 18:16-45)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is where Elijah challenged Baal's followers</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
to sacrifice to Baal.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They tried and tried, but nothing happened.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Elijah poured 4 jars of water on his altar,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and God still sent fire down from Heaven.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We worshipped up here and all just felt God's power.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can't be at a place like that and not be moved </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
by how powerful our God is!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zzja8g7oncs/T3XQ0BddLbI/AAAAAAAAAN4/n2hYUyX1zhY/s1600/DSCF3378.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zzja8g7oncs/T3XQ0BddLbI/AAAAAAAAAN4/n2hYUyX1zhY/s320/DSCF3378.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That night, we went and sat on the wall </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
that surrounds the courtyardof the Scots. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<strike>It's quite a ways up,</strike> <strike>and I was quite scared I would fall.</strike></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It overlooked the Sea of Galilee. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We could barely make out the Sea, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
because it was so dark, but we all knew it was there.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For over an hour, we sat there praising God.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
People were walking on the road underneath us and stopped</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and listened- we even got an "Amen!"</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CZRJxpzv6eM/T3XQ5r908QI/AAAAAAAAAOA/ff0-zQ8JtgI/s1600/DSCF3379.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CZRJxpzv6eM/T3XQ5r908QI/AAAAAAAAAOA/ff0-zQ8JtgI/s320/DSCF3379.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Matt had SO many songs memorized!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gLklpIFubto/T3XRABhF7dI/AAAAAAAAAOI/hhIMfXOpDm8/s1600/DSCF3382.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gLklpIFubto/T3XRABhF7dI/AAAAAAAAAOI/hhIMfXOpDm8/s320/DSCF3382.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is overlooking the Sea of Galilee the next morning. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes, the SEA OF GALILEE! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Crazy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is what I woke up to! The Sea of Galilee. It was beautiful!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uC1kXikc5O8/T3Y3heGpecI/AAAAAAAAAOQ/Y9wqwXPz-AE/s1600/DSCF3385.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uC1kXikc5O8/T3Y3heGpecI/AAAAAAAAAOQ/Y9wqwXPz-AE/s320/DSCF3385.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We were headed to sail on the Sea of Galilee, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
so I read passages that related to it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh, ya know, WHILE I WAS LOOKING AT </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
THE SEA OF GALILEE.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sorry, It still gets me. :)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FaJXolfBzpQ/T3Y3oaDCKHI/AAAAAAAAAOY/QXVYQ0NDGrg/s1600/DSCF3390.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FaJXolfBzpQ/T3Y3oaDCKHI/AAAAAAAAAOY/QXVYQ0NDGrg/s320/DSCF3390.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Sea has gone down quite a bit over the last 10 years.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Those boats used to be in water.</div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-V2mo52aTjfc/T3Y3vzzr_gI/AAAAAAAAAOg/PIkSdFWMpw8/s1600/DSCF3392.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-V2mo52aTjfc/T3Y3vzzr_gI/AAAAAAAAAOg/PIkSdFWMpw8/s320/DSCF3392.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Jesus Boat we sailed on!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That's really what they're called. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They're similar to what they found from Jesus' time</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(keep scrolling for that pic)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bbjzfJ0D-5U/T3Y32kFUaTI/AAAAAAAAAOo/YIp3g2SX1bM/s1600/DSCF3398.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bbjzfJ0D-5U/T3Y32kFUaTI/AAAAAAAAAOo/YIp3g2SX1bM/s320/DSCF3398.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Reading about the Sea of Galilee</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
ON THE SEA OF GALILEE</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was hazy, but it almost helped me understand more.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Think about Matthew 22, and Jesus walking on this water.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Peter thought Jesus was a ghost, look through the haze and imagine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We learned the Hava Nagila dance on the Sea of Galilee.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Matt, Hannah and Reed needed to freestyle afterwards :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the Jesus Boat!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They uncovered it under a bunch of mud in the 1980s.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's held together with those bars, but it's still pieced together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Let's end the day with this picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Kelton here comes and knocks on my and Emily's door </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
after we'd gone to bed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He said that he had cut his leg on a metal sign </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
outside in the courtyard,and he wanted peroxide.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I told him I didn't have any, but I did have acne pads.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, he rubbed an acne pad all over his leg.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Apparently it burned quite a bit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was partially the fact that it was after 1AM, and</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
partially that he was shrieking as he was cleaning it,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
but Emily and I thought it was SO funny.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We started our day at the Jordan River!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These are the people who were baptized.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was such an amazing experience to </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
come up from under the <strike>freezing cold</strike> brisk</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
water and imagine Jesus looking up </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
through the tree branches as I was.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also, to imagine a dove right above where I was,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
saying "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am pleased"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-v3hubZxtcEs/T4A8ckB040I/AAAAAAAAAQo/kHt3_1pI49U/s1600/DSCF3472.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-v3hubZxtcEs/T4A8ckB040I/AAAAAAAAAQo/kHt3_1pI49U/s320/DSCF3472.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is Bet She'an. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
King Saul was hung on the walls of this city.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LnN_4gjfYbc/T4A8ivmKMtI/AAAAAAAAAQw/HeOcnMaM4ew/s1600/DSCF3468.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LnN_4gjfYbc/T4A8ivmKMtI/AAAAAAAAAQw/HeOcnMaM4ew/s320/DSCF3468.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We had to take this tractor-like train into the city.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It would've been quite a walk.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Emily, Malachi and I were seat buddies :)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XJCdIcacxBw/T4A8qd-cvYI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/1SrZyKd6VXE/s1600/DSCF3474.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XJCdIcacxBw/T4A8qd-cvYI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/1SrZyKd6VXE/s320/DSCF3474.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Soldiers walk around all over with their guns </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
just hanging off their back like this!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O4_RxTI-G6Y/T4A8zlcLP6I/AAAAAAAAARA/6psL07Xi2GE/s1600/DSCF3490.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O4_RxTI-G6Y/T4A8zlcLP6I/AAAAAAAAARA/6psL07Xi2GE/s320/DSCF3490.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the public restrooms of those days.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Gag.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bo-mDa-F1NY/T4A85vwRNaI/AAAAAAAAARI/IKmtV-7YYPE/s1600/DSCF3488.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bo-mDa-F1NY/T4A85vwRNaI/AAAAAAAAARI/IKmtV-7YYPE/s320/DSCF3488.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There was an eathquake some time ago.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was cool how the columns fell like this.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CCl2SCwyGXM/T4A8-6Tc6DI/AAAAAAAAARQ/kMNTwPLHZRs/s1600/DSCF3494.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CCl2SCwyGXM/T4A8-6Tc6DI/AAAAAAAAARQ/kMNTwPLHZRs/s320/DSCF3494.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This tall columns reminded us of Samson.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you recall, Samson was tied to columns of </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
the temple and pulled the temple down as he died.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MJPUqW95euI/T4A9GyvhdRI/AAAAAAAAARY/ADEajXa5A4c/s1600/DSCF3506.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MJPUqW95euI/T4A9GyvhdRI/AAAAAAAAARY/ADEajXa5A4c/s320/DSCF3506.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lunch!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you can see, it WAS McDonald's!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It wasn't American McDonald's, though..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was kosher, though, so there was no cheese</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and ice cream was made at a different counter.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xa-e6xNvBY4/T4A9NOeJipI/AAAAAAAAARg/ko1VGkOBExU/s1600/DSCF3512.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xa-e6xNvBY4/T4A9NOeJipI/AAAAAAAAARg/ko1VGkOBExU/s320/DSCF3512.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We were getting into the real desert of Israel.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9WTO_XzmYUc/T4A9U2kjBsI/AAAAAAAAARo/EWgyHTMgixs/s1600/DSCF3513.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9WTO_XzmYUc/T4A9U2kjBsI/AAAAAAAAARo/EWgyHTMgixs/s320/DSCF3513.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Dead Sea!!!!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ltz1DX9_bQc/T4A9aKW2X6I/AAAAAAAAARw/TUoiWg1k2GE/s1600/DSCF3536.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ltz1DX9_bQc/T4A9aKW2X6I/AAAAAAAAARw/TUoiWg1k2GE/s320/DSCF3536.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is Qumron, where the </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Dead Sea Scrolls were found.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There were monks that lived here,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and hid the Scrolls.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was crazy to see that they lived HERE.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Dead Sea isn't too far away, but it's SALT water.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can't drink salt water. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They figured out how to get water.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-muSfbMInpms/T4A9gA_qThI/AAAAAAAAAR4/PL7Rz5dXz3M/s1600/DSCF3534.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-muSfbMInpms/T4A9gA_qThI/AAAAAAAAAR4/PL7Rz5dXz3M/s320/DSCF3534.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is part of Qumron, as well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Dead Sea Scrolls were preserved, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
since there isn't much rain at all in this part of the desert.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At church last week, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
we talked about how Satan tempted Jesus.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was in a desert. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Look at the picture above, this is what I imagine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Imagine Jesus wandering the desert </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
for 40 days without food or water.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And Satan coming and saying </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
"I'll give you all of the world if You bow </div>
